In 1953 Clarence Zurcher opened Zurchers Merchandise as a wholesale toy company. Clarence and his son, Robert (Bob) Zurcher, sold their toys to various grocery and convenience stores throughout Idaho, Oregon and Nevada. In 1983, Bob converted part of the Zurchers Merchandise warehouse in Boise, Idaho into the first Zurchers party, costume and wedding supply store. Over the years Zurchers Merchandise has continued to expand the Zurchers party, costume and wedding stores, while the wholesale division of the company has been sold. Bob’s three sons still own and operate all Zurchers party, costume and wedding stores throughout Utah and Idaho.
